WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The seven-night dahabeya cruise between Luxor and Aswan will transport you to a more refined and courteous age. An exceptional journey down the Nile aboard a historic small sailing vessel, popular during the opulent monarchical era (1920s–1940s), when aristocrats and cultured tourists cherished taking exquisite Nile cruises.

Day 1:

Set out from Luxor on a designated dahabiyya for a leisurely week of Nile sailing.

Following lunch, take a trip to see the impressive Amon-Ra temple complex in Karnak, which features a large hypostyle hall supported by 137 columns. Next, see the commanding 28th-dynasty Luxor Temple.

Karnak, one of the most exquisite ancient buildings in Egypt, is a complex of temples constructed during several pharaonic periods that surpasses all other pharaonic monuments in beauty.

You will be taken to the Luxor Temple, which honours the Theben Triad of Amun-Ra, Mut, and Khonsu, after visiting Karnak. The granite statues of Ramses the Great are located there. Travellers visiting Luxor should not miss seeing these historic monuments.

Day 2:

You will go to the West Bank to see the Pharaohs’ resting sites, including the most well-known collection of royal tombs, the Valley of the Kings. It was here that Howard Carter found Tutankamon’s tomb in 1922.

Following your tour of the tombs, you will be taken to the nearby Valley of the Queens, where you will see the largest ancient sculptures in Egypt, the Colossi of Memnon, and the Temple of Ramses III – Medinat Habu, both of which are from the reign of King Amenhotep III.

Set sail for Esna.

Spend the night around Esna.

Day 3: 

After breakfast, commence sailing to Edfu.

Day 4:

You will see the exquisitely preserved Temple of Edfu today, which honours the falcon-headed god Horus.

Spending the night alongside Maneeha Island in Kom Ombo, with dinner served on the island.

Day 5:

Visit El Silsila optional.

See the Temple of Kom Ombo, devoted to the god of crocodiles, Sobek.

In Aswan, anchored next to a Nile island for the night.

Day 6:

A leisurely voyage to Aswan, where they anchored close to Aswan Bridge.

Day 7:

You will see the Old Dam, erected in 1902, and the Aswan High Dam, completed in 1971.

You will also see the Isis-focused Philae Temple, which was saved from the rising waters of Lake Nasser during the building of the High Dam.

Day 8:

After breakfast on the dahabeya, disembarkation occurs.
