WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
You will be picked up in the morning from your Aswan hotel by your own Egyptologist to begin your private day tour to the riverbank temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo.
Your first destination will be Kom Ombo, which is located on high land with a view of the Nile and is less than an hour’s drive north of Aswan. Constructed during the Ptolemaic era, which was led by Cleopatra, this unique temple features an uncommon dual entrance. The two striking entrances are each devoted to a different god: the crocodile god Sobek, who is associated with fertility and the creation of the universe, and the falcon-headed Horus, who is associated with war and hunting.
Discover the history of the sanctuaries, forecourt, and stone columns while exploring them with your guide.
Admire the vestibules and halls decorated with pictures of vultures, crocodiles, and other animals in the hypostyle.
Among the approximately 300 crocodile mummies found there is a strange museum called the Crocodile Museum.
Following your exploration of Kom Ombo, head north to Edfu to see the magnificent Horus temple, which dates back to Ptolemaic Egypt.
This nearly 200-year-old temple is regarded by many scholars as the best-preserved religious temple in Egypt. Legend has it that this is where Horus killed Seth to exact revenge for the death of his father, Osiris.
As your guide reveals the mysteries of the huge pylon, court, and other chambers, you can see them.
After your tours, you have the option of being dropped off at your Aswan hotel or receiving a complimentary transfer to a different Luxor hotel.
